When you start a coaching business, you need to pick a profitable coaching niche. The age-old saying, "The riches are in the niches," well … it's true. If you want to be a six-figure coach and beyond … you'll need a coaching niche.
Once you have a defined coaching niche, you'll be able to create an ideal customer profile (ICP). And, creating an ICP is one of the most important steps you'll take to build your business.
Your ICP is a hypothetical description of the person that would most benefit from your coaching services. Everything in your coaching business should revolve around your ICP. Your coaching programs and packages, marketing, on-boarding, intake forms, website … everything.
But, you can't create this profile until you choose a coaching niche.
Finding your coaching niche can be difficult. I had a hard time choosing mine as well. The key to picking a niche is combining your experience, coaching skills, and passions. All of the niches below have a highly motivated market, so you're all good.

For each niche, I’ve included the definition of each niche, potential sub niches, average salaries, and hourly rates. Note, the average salaries and hourly rates are simply an average. You’re in complete control of your pricing and how much you can earn as a coach.
1. Life Coach Niche
The definition of a life coach seems to be a little debatable. However, after some research, I've tried to compile the best possible description to describe what is a life coach. A life coach is someone that helps a client identify his/her goals and develop plans to achieve them. Simple, yet broad. That’s a challenge all life coaches face.
Often this person is professionally trained or certified in techniques to maximize their client's full potential to reach his/her desired results.

A certified life coach salary range is between $27,019 – $210,933. The average salary of a life coach North America is $61,900, according to the ICF Global Coaching Study. PayScale provides an average hourly rate of $31 with the top earners charging $98/hour.
2. Health Coach Niche
The definition of a health coach is a little easier to explain. Often a health coach keeps his/her clients motivated and holds them accountable to live a healthier life.
A health coach is typically highly educated in health, nutrition, and/or exercise. They could be certified in specific areas or strategies to help clients reach optimal well-being through living a healthier lifestyle.

3. Executive Coach Niche
The definition of an executive coach is someone that assists executives, managers, and high potential leaders to unlock and unleash their full potential. Often, executive coaches help his/her clients effectively lead their teams and organizations.
However, they also work with leaders to stay live a healthy and balanced life as well.

Coaching Pricing
How much should I charge for coaching? This is a question I hear all the time. You get all sorts of answers, but no real explanation on how to actually price services. Pricing for coaching can be difficult. But, hopefully I can clear that up a little below.
